Note: PictureSync is unsupported and no longer maintained.

PictureSync for Viewbook is a convenient (Mac only) application that simplifies uploading your photographs to Viewbook directly from your desktop. It connects with image-management applications like iPhoto, Aperture and Lightroom. And best of all pictureSync automatically converts your images from many different file types, resizes them, and uploads them into your Viewbook account.

Just drop your full size image files into PitureSync. Even layered Photoshop files. Just drag and drop your images (as many at a time as you would like) from your computer into the PictureSync application and it does the rest.

Getting started

Download and Install

  1. Download PictureSync for Viewbook here.
  2. Once downloaded add PictureSync to your Applications folder
  3. Open the PictureSync

Setup

  1. When you see the 'Welcome to PictureSync' window, click the button that says 'Setup'.
  2. A new window opens, click 'Authenticate'. A browser window opens with the Viewbook login screen.
  3. At the Viewbook login screen login with your Viewbook username and password.
  4. After successful login you'll see a 'Grand application' screen. Click the 'OK I'll ALLOW IT' button. Then close the browser window.
  5. Go back to PictureSync and click 'Continue'.
  6. If all goes well PictureSync opens and shows how many images you have online.

Upload your images

  1. Now just Drag & Drop your images into PictureSync. You can do this with images from you finder, but also from applications like iPhoto and Aperture.
  2. If you'd like, you can enter information in the 'Title,' 'Caption,' and 'Keyword' fields - this information will be uploaded to Viewbook together with the image.
  3. If you added your images to upload into Viewbook, click the 'Upload' button in the upper right of the PictureSync window. You will then be prompted to select an album for the images or to create a new Album. Click 'Continue' when you're ready.
  4. PictureSync starts uploading your images.
  5. When PictureSync's is done you can log into your Viewbook account and see your newly uploaded images.

I'm wondering why picturesync is no longer supported and if there's an application to help me resize my images.

@Neil: I'd say do a Google search, there are several tools available: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=res...

You can also use Automator on the mac, to create your own resizing script. And there's of course batching in Photoshop.
