Creating an album in Viewbook is easy. Follow the simple steps below.

Before you start please prepare the images you want to upload. If you're images are quite big (more than 1MB) you can resize them first to get a faster upload.
1. Make a new album Click the 'New' button in the toolbar, and choose 'album'. To edit the title simply click on the title of the new created 'Untitled' album, enter the new title for your album and hit the Return key.
2. Upload images by clicking the 'Upload' button. Select the images you want to upload. Note: you can select more than one image by pressing the SHIFT key.
3. Organize your images
Viewbook uses drag & drop to reorder images, add images to other albums. You can select more than one image, to reorder, or delete a whole set in one go. There are two methods to multi-select images:
A. SHIFT+CLICK: Click the first image you want to select. Then hold down the SHIFT key and click the last image.
B. Select tool: Click just outside of an image and hold. Now drag the cursor over the images to select it.
To deselect an image from your selection hold down the CRTL (for mac the APPLE) key and and click the image.
4. Style your album Click the 'Style Album' tab to change the styles of your album. Choose a color, thumbnails and enable download, full screen and other options.
5. Open / Share your album. Just hit the 'Open' button in the toolbar to open your album. You can copy/paste the url from your browsers address bar and e-mail the link to anyone. Or click 'Share' and post your album to Facebook, or embed it in your blog.

how do we undo actions if we have commited a mistake? like if we choose the wrong page layout, can this be undone by a quick toggle key? like ctrl Z in MS office applications?
We do not support Undo actions, but it's a good idea. Thanks for the feedback.
One thing you have to be very careful about is hitting the delete key (on windows) when typing in image details such as title and description. Doing so will delete the image and you will have to upload it again because there is no undo.
I would like to have a brief description of the image displayed below it when the album is viewed, but I cannot see how to do this - the only option appears to be to display the filename, which is not what I want to do. Is this possible?
To display the title and description below the image:
1. Go to 'organize images' mode
2. Select an image and enter the title and description in the sidebar that opens
If you look at your album you will see that the title and description appears below the image.
Thank you, I was confused by the fact that there is only one 'global switch' to turn text on and off. What I want to do is display descriptions but not title (the filename) - so if I understand correctly, my only option to achieve this is to delete all the filenames (titles), and then under Style Albums set the 'Disable text' option to off so that all text is displayed. I was hoping there was a way to disable title text while still displaying description text. The reason I want to do this is that the image titles (filenames) are not very interesting or informative (they make sense for archiving purposes, but not for displaying in a portfolio). The descriptions, however, provide interesting/useful information to the portfolio viewer.
You can simply uncheck 'Display' filename under the Text option of the Album Styling Panel.
Thanks Rien. Problem was, when I imported the images to create an album, the 'title' field was populated with the filename. Hence when I unchecked 'display filename' as you suggest (and which I had already tried), I still saw the filename displayed in the 'title' field and had to manually go through all images and delete all the titles in order to be able to display description _without_ titles...
Yes, only option is to manually remove all the filenames from your title field.
ermmmm hey there ,stupid question propbably but where is the TOOL BAR?? I DONT SEEM TO HAVE ONE I JUST SIGNED UP ON HERE. thanks
The 'Toolbar' is the top bar in your Image Manager, with the big '+' , 'upload', 'delete', 'open', etc buttons.
Anyone know how to make images display larger? Can't seem to get my images to look bigger on screen - no option for that in the album style settings tab..
I would like to know how to make images display larger too.
There is a tutorial about displaying your images larger here: http://support.viewbook.com/entries/20191028-how-do-i-get-my-images...
Hello! How do I place a "back" button so that viewers can come back to the page of my website when they have viewed all they want inside an album?
When opening your Album 'full screen' a back button is added automatically. Otherwise there is no back button option (when your Album opens 'in site').
Hi, how do I make an album? As in viewing it like a book? eg: 2 pics on one page and one large one on other?
Thanks so much
Sorry forgot to mention I am doing a trial at the moment though
Hi Teneya, the flipping pages effect isn't in our album features. It is possible to upload a .pdf in issuu.com and embed that in a Viewbook text page, you'll need the Viewbook Pro plan for this.
Hi, is there an option to import CAPTIONS with the images? So they would automatically or by choice fill in the blanks in description of an image? Handy thing when you upload many files and all the data IS in metadata already, no waste of time on retyping it all.

Hi Maria, this is not yet possible, but we're planning to add this feature together with the upload.
