You can use your own domain name with Viewbook. You need to upgrade to the Pro account, and configure your domain name to point to your desired web page. This requires you to work with the domain registrar from whom you purchased your domain name.
What is a custom domain name?
A custom domain name is a registered domain name that can be pointed to Viewbook so a Viewbook website can be accessed with this domain name. You can only point one domain name to a Viewbook account. Viewbook does not register domain names, if you need to register or move a domain name read here for more info.
Does Viewbook offer email?
If you already use email with your domain name you can keep using the email account at your current provider. If you do not yet use email with your domain name, or you wish to leave your current provider we can setup a free Google Apps email account for you. You can also take a look at what your domain name registrar offers. Most offer very affordable email hosting.
How do I point my domain name to Viewbook?
Your domain name needs to be configured to point to the Viewbook servers. This is done with an A record in the Domain Name System (DNS) settings of the domain name at your domain name registrar. Most registrars let you change the domain name configuration within a control panel quite easily.
Pointing your domain name to Viewbook requires two steps:
1. Log in to your account on your hosting service's website, and find the DNS management page.
2. Create two A records.
Add the two A records to your DNS settings as in the table below. Change or delete any existing entries for the same host.
| host | type | value |
| @ | A | 174.129.224.232 |
| www | A | 174.129.224.232 |
